  LATINNO is the first comprehensive and systematic source of data on new institutions for citizen participation evolving in Latin America – the so-called democratic innovations. LATINNO looks at the thousands of new institutional designs which have been created in the previous years with the aim not only to include citizens in the political process, but also – through citizen participation – to make governments more responsive and institutions more accountable, in addition to strengthening the rule of law, and promoting social equality and political inclusion. LATINNO collects data on democratic innovations evolving in 18 Latin American countries from 1990 to 2020. The data is coded for 43 variables which reflect the context, institutional design, and impact of each innovation. Along with the quantitative data, qualitative information on each case has also been gathered and assessed. This prolifically rich content is now being analyzed in policy briefs, academic papers and op-ed pieces. LATINNO is not just a dataset. It is a research project that produces new, comparative knowledge on democratic innovations, democracy, and citizen participation in Latin America. The LATINNO Project is coordinated by Thamy Pogrebinschi, at the Department Democracy and Democratization of the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. It is funded by the Open Society Foundations.   Designed the citizen participation and multi-actor engagement strategy for the first civic technology project of Germany’s International Cooperation Agency-GIZ in Ecuador, in the coastal province of Manabi. I led over 20 community workshops on good environmental practices at the household and community levels. Organized monthly panel discussions and dialogues between civic society, academia and government on use of civic technology for evidence-based social infrastructure projects and local policy making.   As Citizen Participation for Development Director I coordinated a 40-member team to implement the Municipality’s social public policy regarding citizen participation, culture, environment, health, security and social inclusion in the North District (500.000 inhabitants). In addition, my team implemented one of the most influential participatory decision-making processes: the annual participative budget public assemblies in 18 rural and urban districts for the allocation of an estimate of 4 million dollars in public infrastructure and social projects. One of these social projects, the ecosystemic and social rehabilitation of the Habas Corral ravine in the Cochapamba neighborhood, was adopted in two consecutive assemblies and reunited neighbors to protect the ecosystem in the ravine as shown in the link below. In regards to urban planning, I co-designed the citizen participation strategy for the development and ultimate adoption of the territorial ordinance plan of La Mariscal urban neighborhood.
