I worked with the Texas Outdoor Family program as an intern for the summer 2016 season. My internship consisted of arriving on Friday afternoons to help the program coordinators set up the weekend long camping events in which families were taught camping skills. Interpretive educational programs included geocaching, hiking, dutch oven cooking, kayaking, and camp setup and breakdown. Programs for each weekend were tailored to meet the needs and wants of each group we hosted in different state parks across Texas. My duties included gear organization, leading interpretive programs for campers, active problem solving, assisting campers and their families with any issues that arose, and generally keeping them all happy little campers.
