Nicole proactively managed me - and my team - remotely and she was a great leader! Even though we were in different locations, we collaborated often and communicated and openly and frequently. She's great at building relationships with her team while providing just the right amount of oversight and strategic direction. She would be an asset to any organization and any leadership team.

I worked with Nicole as my hiring manager and supervisor, as well as a peer, over the course of two years at Nationwide. Nicole hired me to assume responsibility for communications for the Excess & Surplus business unit in Scottsdale, Ariz., which she had been managing on an interim basis remotely in addition to her primary responsibilities in Des Moines. Nicole set clear goals for me, ensured I had the tools I needed for success, established checkpoints and then let me do my job and held me accountable for outcomes. She also adeptly managed another co-worker supporting the Excess & Surplus lines business unit who had a completely different working style than mine, demonstrating her adaptability and flexibility. Despite managing us remotely, I never felt that there were any gaps in communication or accessibility despite the remote nature of our working relationship. She always was available to offer guidance, direction or support when needed. She is an exceptional strategic communicator, leader and manager. Her organizational and management skills were evident from day one when I arrived to a detailed orientation plan to ease my transition and position me for success. Her high emotional intelligence was reflected by her ability to earn the respect of senior leaders in different business locations for her counsel and for gaining their support of the One Nationwide brand enterprise transformation initiative, which included elements that required sacrifices at the business unit level in order to achieve the objective. In my interactions with her, her demeanor was always calm under pressure, firm when providing counsel or coaching and friendly and engaging at group activities such as training or community involvement events. It is clear that she is a person of high integrity. I enjoyed working for and with Nicole and would jump at the opportunity to do so again in future.
