As a co-director for Screen Gallery, a student-run gallery, I am responsible for overseeing and managing the gallery's operations and exhibitions. I work closely with a team of student curators and artists to plan and execute events and exhibitions that showcase a diverse range of contemporary art and artists. My role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as an understanding of the contemporary art world. By creating a dynamic and inclusive environment for artists, curators, and audiences to engage with and experience contemporary art, I play a key role in supporting the gallery's mission and success. Exhibition Assistant

The exhibition was a unique blend of a variety store, celebratory funeral, and ritual ending of part of Tam's artistic practice. It served as a platform for exchange and showcased items from a series of Tam's previous projects that were connected by the theme of various types of shops. During the period of June 18 to October 15, the exhibition was brought to life through performative gestures carried out by a 'shopkeeper.' It was a memorable and enriching experience to be a part of this innovative and thought-provoking collaboration. Show less

Assistant

My role was to assist local artist Mackenzie Bedford in creating a transporting experience for isolation-fatigued visitors. Participants were encouraged to stand inside the projection, dance, act, create shadows, and share their experiences on social media. I helped facilitate an intergalactic journey for visitors to play, bask in the light and be a part of the magic. This project was a result of Mackenzie's journey in learning to animate, starting at Quickdraw Animation Society in 2018 and later being part of the 2021 cSPACE Artist Incubator series where they learned the basics of projection mapping. It was a privilege to contribute to Mackenzie's collaborative efforts in creating opportunities for other new media artists. Show less

As a student researcher, I was honored to support Kaitlyn Purcell, a University of Calgary Humanities Research Fellow, in her groundbreaking research project with Esker Foundation. The project aimed to decolonize gallery spaces through the lens of youth activities and was an emerging research effort that took shape through collaboration with other participants. My role involved contributing to the project, learning hands-on research experience, and being part of a flexible and adaptive approach as we worked together to mutually negotiate the project's needs and direction.
