At Hypergen we are developing the next generation of Micro Gas Turbines (MGT), that are fuel flexible and high efficiency. With our bespoke designs on turbine blade cooling and multi-fuel injection system, we are developing a MGT that can handle a wide variety of liquid and gaseous fuels, including Hydrogen. We believe this to be a great transition technology that will allow economies to invest today on a system that can run on fuels widely available while remaining future proof for when the time comes to move to greener alternatives, such as Hydrogen. Our system will also allow countries to remain fuel agnostic, avoiding situations where one country can hold others hostage by cutting fuel supplies over political issues. Show less

As a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the School of Chemistry, my duties involve research in surface science, nanomaterials and electrochemistry and electrocatalysis, related topics as well as teaching (tutor in physical chemistry and thermodynamics) and outreach activities. I also help with the supervision of PhD, BSc, and MSc student projects, as well as with the writing of grant proposals for funding my research. My duties also include presenting results in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences. I also collaborate with the organization of conferences within the University of Birmingham, and other associated Universities, like the Warwick University, among other administrative duties. I currently perform duties as a member of the Marie Curie (MC) association committee at the University of Birmingham, planning activities involving the MC association and third parties, such as charities or science foundations. Additionally, I have been appointed Marie Curie Champion for EPS. This position comes with the obligation for guiding new MC fellows arriving at the University, to help them solve problems related with both, settling down into their new institution, as well as problems related to their research and research groups. In terms of the research I carry out at the University of Birmingham, I currently work in the electrocatalysis of hydrogen evolution and oxygen reduction reaction along with the design of new nanostructured materials (electrodeposited supported metallic deposits and nanoparticles done with surfactant templates). I perform electrochemical measurements (chronoamperometry, cyclic voltammetry, differential capacitance measurements, etc.) along with atomic force and scanning tunneling microscopy, in order to characterize the systems studied.
