Environmental Project Manager in Air Quality and Sustainable Practices team Work around improving air quality in near-port communities, reducing greenhouse gases, and embedding sustainable practices into our operations. Work on implementing on the ground programs that support the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy - a collaborative effort between the ports of Seattle, Tacoma and Metro Vancouver, B.C., to reduce seaport-related air emissions in the Georgia Basin and Puget Sound airsheds from cargo-handling equipment, rail, harbor craft, ocean-going vessels and trucks. Currently working on the 2020 update to the Strategy with our stakeholders, to further improve air quality in our region, and meet our aggressive GHG goals.

2 year Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Scottish Canals and the University of Strathclyde. The overall aim of my project is to embed an environmentally sustainable approach to sediment management, reducing operational costs, generating opportunities for revenue growth and addressing emerging waste legislation requirements. The project will reduce Scottish Canal’s operational costs and potentially generate income by reviewing best practice from other canal and dredging operations, carrying out a regulatory review, and creating partnerships with companies close to the canal who can use the waste products. This will also improve environmental sustainability through reduced landfill, and improve amenity value of the canals for fishing, cruising etc.

Work shadowing the members of the TAYplan team, a strategic development plan for the future of the east of Scotland, so I was exposed to all the aspects of developing the new development plan. I had the opportunity to attend a number of important meetings with the wide range of stakeholders and consultees involved with the development of the emerging plan and observe the discussions and debates. I also had the chance to attend a number of events concerned with wider planning issues in Scotland, such as the National Planning Framework 3 - Stakeholder event, where I was on the other side of the discussions.
