Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining an effective Safety Management System that was suitable to meet the needs of a UK based operator with a fleet of 13+ aircraft and a wide portfolio of aerial work (including operations within high risk and challenging environments) as well as a growing Part 145 Maintenance organisation. Under my tenure, the Company’s safety management system was developed from scratch and successfully passed the CAA SMS assessment for that of a Complex Operator. Being responsible for successful implementation and development of the Company’s Occurrence Reporting system involved working with external and internal stakeholders to ensure that an effective system that met regulatory requirements was delivered on time and on budget. Managing Safety Department investigations into accidents, incidents and hazardous occurrences and developed the emergency response plan including coordination of regular practice exercises. Developing and delivering regular Safety Action Groups and Safety Review Board meetings to ensure that the relevant Post Holders we aware of the risk picture emerging from safety data received which then facilitated identification of areas for improvement and helped achieve an effective risk based approach to the management of safety. Upon successful completion of the Type Rating course I commenced employment with the company in January 2012.
