TA in an EYFS unit for 60 children, currently going into year 2 for the next 2019/20 academic year. I’ve been able to gain experience in Forest learning, leading small groups and working 1:1 with children. Recently I’ve worked more with some of the EAL children to improve their vocabulary and confidence. I planned my own activities for our small group time and after 6 weeks they had gained confidence in talking during learning time and also to other teaching staff and making new friends. I have contributed to the wider life of school, helping with summer fairs, parent events, showcase performances and running my own cheerleading club. I’ve had CPD opportunities and gained qualifications for: - Communication for All (Signs and Symbols) - Lets Interact - Paediatric first aid - Talk Boost - Precision Teaching - Anti-Bullying - Emotion Coaching - Attachment Disorder - Down’s syndrome and SEN - Safeguarding/Child Protection Show less

During my time I undertook opportunities to not only work on the checkouts but also assist on the self-service machines and the opticians to learn new skills. I acted in a friendly yet professional manner, answering customer queries and keeping the area tidy and clean. For second year university placement I undertook a volunteer role in a young persons setting. I interacted with the setting users every day to help build positive relationships and put up a new “Future Aspirations” display board. This showed future career paths including: education, apprenticeships and going into the army. For second year university placement I undertook a volunteer role in a young persons setting. As part of my degree it is compulsory to undertake placement in a young children's setting. During my time here I was enthusiastic and engaged with all the children. I wrote observations about child behaviour and learning to understand their development and interactions with others. Other tasks included general tidying, making the area safe and helping with planned activities. As part of my degree it is compulsory to undertake placement in a young children's setting. During my first year of sixth form I decided to gain some experience within the childcare sector. Having done previous experience in a primary setting, I chose to work with younger children aged 3-5 years to get an understanding of the age differences. During this time, I was able to develop my work relationships and how to interact and support children. In year 10 at school, it was compulsory to undertake two weeks work experience of our own choice. I went to my local primary school in a year 6 class and it gave me the initial idea to work with children. Granted I was still a young age but I found the experience useful and still undertook tasks to support the children in the classroom and do duties for the class teacher.
