I was a teacher in the 9th and 10th grade Civic Leadership program at Glenelg Country School. The Civic Leadership program is a 4 year program meant to prepare students for success in a global community. In Civic Leadership 9 (CL9) I teach units on Information Literacy (research skills, knowledge management, content evaluation, plagiarism/citation, copyright/fair use, etc) in a project based setting through a lens of Global Issues. These units also include some graphic design/desktop publishing and non-verbal communication.I was the program coordinator for the CL10 program, leading a 6 teacher, 5-unit (Public Speaking, World Issues, Environmental Awareness, Career Exploration, and Critical Thinking/Debate) course that culminates in a persuasive Community Issue Presentation. In my unit I taught rudimentary Logic and Rhetoric, Psychology, Debate, Critical Thinking and Media Literacy. Show less

Leadership Director
-
1995 - 2008
I worked for 14 years in a variety of roles at a YMCA Summer Camp in Minnesota. I started as a Junior Counselor, but spent 2 years as Trips Director and 5 years as head of the Camper in Leadership Training program, as well as serving as interim Program director for two weeks. I also lead large (100+) group activities, and smaller team-building/initiative activities. This multi-year experience taught me the value of Play, as well as gave me great ability to relate with children of all backgrounds. Show less
