It has been a delightful and exciting journey working with Nick Tobias and his team of talented creative architects. From the first time we met Nick on site he was able to show us his vision for the building. It was very apparent that he understood that it was a home to a diverse group of people and not just a building. It was clear that Nick understands the importance of forming relationships and fulfilling the client needs. Nick’s sensitivity to the site and the surrounding environment has been clear and inspiring. Our building is in one of the most beautiful places in Sydney. It deserves to be an icon and something to have pride in. Nick and his team have worked tirelessly to ensure that the design is beautiful, environmentally sustainable and also brings improvements to the quality of life of all those who live in and around it. His ability to see the beauty in a building and be able to bring it out has been significant. We interviewed a number of architects and they saw how it was, Nick saw how it will be. He saw possibilities and solutions. It has been and is continuing to be a rewarding and exciting experience working with Nick on this project. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a really beautiful, sustainable and inspiring building designed. Christine Smetsers

I was first introduced to Nick during my time at Woollahra Council. Although we were on opposite sides of the counter, we established a professional and respectful working relationship, which has continued to flourish. In my capacity as a planning consultant, I feel privileged to have been involved with Tobias on many residential projects. Nick and the team at Tobias not only continue to build on their creative talents but they also carry our their tasks in a professional and efficient manner.

Montessori East School, like many privately-funded independent schools – relies on the financial support of the community. The Montessori East Foundation has been established to financially support the work of the school. It will ensure a Montessori education of the highest quality for children both now, and into the future: remaining true to the Montessori ideals, attracting and retaining the best teaching talent, improving the school’s physical environment, and managing the student’s transition from Montessori East to a traditional high school education. The foundation will grow the scholarship fund to preserve diversity in the classroom, as well as working on growth of the school to include programs for children under the age of 3. An important part of the foundation’s work will be developing a greater involvement and sense of community amongst parents, as well as enhancing their understanding of a Montessori education. This will also involve cultivating ME alumni. Show less
