  I helped build four hyperlocal sites in the Kansas City metro area. The primary one was in Wyandotte County, Kan. - The Kansas City Kansan. I later expanded my digital footprint to Johnson County, Kan., launching sites in Olathe and De Soto. Together, over 1 million visitors checked out the Websites in one year. Among my duties: A little bit of everything. I produced 90 percent of the stories, covering local government, boards of education, county government, crime beat, breaking news and state politics.
