  This role involves monitoring nervous system activity during spine or brain surgery, with the aim of reducing or eliminating the risk of iatrogenic damage and subsequent loss of body function. Monitoring modalities include motor and sensory evoked potentials, live EMG, triggered EMG and EEG. It is my responsibility to set up all monitoring equipment and required electrodes, carry out and troubleshoot monitoring modalities, analyse the output, give instant feedback to the surgical team, and prepare a report post-operatively regarding monitoring outcomes and any neurological changes that occurred during the procedure.
