I learned how to estimate construction job through a program called Xactimate for insurance companies. I would wright and get approved estimate for homeowners who had water mitigation done to their homes. Once I got the approvals form the insurance companies, I would introduce the homeowners to my project manager who would then start the reconstruction to the property's. I would oversee the PM's through the project's completion. I would also get involved for any problem, supplements and change orders. Once the project was completed, I would then turn in all information so that we could bill Show less

I started out as a tech, learning how to do demo and set equipment. Then after about 6 months I became a crew chief and started to learn how to look at water mitigation jobs to understand what was needed to complete the project. I was a crew chief for about 3 years. Once a spot was open, I became a project manager where I learned how to help the homeowners through the traumatic experience they were going through. As well as talking with the insurance on what needs to be done to the home to mitigate damages. At his point I would have anywhere between 2 to 20 projects I was handling at a time. In having that mean project I learned how to manage projects as well as line crew up for the task that were need per project. Show less
