Business Systems Director

In this role I led the IT Department and sat on the Senior Management Team. I employed a small team and was directly responsible for the IT Budget across the business and the management of all of the IT Suppliers including enterprise agreements with Microsoft and Vodafone. I was directly involved or lead projects to enhance our business IT systems including telephone systems, data connectivity, Mobile Devices, Finance Systems and hardware. Individual projects have included: • Migrating our business systems to a virtual environment in a dedicated Data Centre and contracts re-negotiated with our primary support partner who manage this environment. • Migrating our Finance systems in entirety to Microsoft Dynamics • Developing and implementing a Mobile Device application for field engineers • Installing a new Telephone Contact Centre application and VOIP telephone system • Liaising with Microsoft to agree and implement an Enterprise licencing agreement • Deploying Microsoft Office 365 • Designing and deploying a Citrix Environment across the business In 2015 I developed and deployed an entirely new Operational Management application to replace the previous off the shelf software. This application integrated with the Finance Systems, Scheduling Systems and Mobile Devices. In 2007 Drainmasters (East Anglia) was merged, along with the other founding director’s companies, into UK Drainage Network to form a single entity. As this time I assumed the role of IT Director and focussed all of my energies on the expanding needs of the larger business for appropriate and capable IT systems.I engaged a number of suppliers to provide communications links, infrastructure and software systems and employed additional staff to work within a dedicated IT Department. I enhanced the Operational Management application to integrate directly with external Client Systems to allow receipt of instructions and the output of activity and billing data to assist in securing and maintaining sizeable contracts.I sat on the Board of UKDN and reported monthly the status and performance of the IT systems and the activities of the department. In 2003 I worked with Directors of similar companies across the UK to form UK Drainage Network to supply the specialist drainage services of our individual companies to National clients. During this period I remained MD of Drainmasters but alongside began expanding my role as Director within UKDN and was actively involved in the setting up of the company, negotiating with large National clients and building up the IT systems within the new business.I fully developed a new operational management application which was deployed in both the new business Head Office and all of the founder member companies to allow work to be managed both regionally and centrally. Managing Director

The founding Director of Drainmasters moved to the role of Chairman and then emigrated in 2005 leaving the business in my hands as Managing Director. The company grew significantly in this period rising to approximately 50 employees. My role required the complete management of all aspects of day to day operations and the direction of our management accountant, contracts manager, operations manager and field staff. I concentrated on developing our internal systems and designed and installed IT systems including phone systems, servers and networked computers, vehicle tracking systems and mobile communications. I designed and developed an operational management application utilising a front-end client application and back end database which delivered measurable increase in efficiency and further promoted the company as a cut above its competition. Technical Manager

The Directors of Drainmasters (East Anglia) Ltd. and another local Drain Cleaning company partnered to form a specialist Drain Lining company in 1998 to take advantage of an expiry of a patent covering this technique and I was actively involved in all areas of the setting up of this new business including marketing, recruitment and training in the role of Technical Manager. I was instrumental in developing unique techniques to adapt this emerging technology for use in small diameter pipework systems including working closely with suppliers to develop and enhance the materials required. My role in Drainmasters continued to mature during this time and having been extremely successful Eastern Pipelining was dissolved in 2002 due to a difference of opinion at Board level and the work was absorbed into Drainmasters.
