It would be difficult to briefly describe how great of a leader, mentor, supervisor, and educator that Nick is. From 2011-2013 Nick was my direct supervisor in my role as the Assistant Residence Life Coordinator in Noehren Hall at UNI. Through our collaboration to forming a cohesive and exciting living environment for students, I was able to grow as a rising professional in the Student Affairs field. While it might have been hard at the time, Nick was always great at challenging me and not letting me settle for "okay" as he was one of my biggest advocates. Never missed was that I was also a graduate student who sought various developmental opportunities. Nick always supported those opportunities that would supplement my education and would also provide additional resources. Furthermore, during this time, I was able to see Nick form great professional relationships with students where they not only felt comfortable approaching him but sought him out for advice and truly walked away growing as students and upcoming leaders in society. UNI made a great choice when hiring Nick as he is dedicated to students, higher education, and making a difference. As a direct report, I would hope for the day that we can work together again as anyone would be very lucky.
