I first worked with Nick in Liverpool, England - where he was responsible for providing the highest quality addiction and social care, among a hugely complex framework of funding constraints and competing priorities. Most recently, I've worked with him in his role as co-founder and CEO of Hopeland, a charity based out of New York City. There, he's using the same clear head, super-smart thinking and entrepreneurial spirit to find positive and lasting solutions for children growing up outside of a family's care. I've always been impressed by Nick and I remain so.

Nick is a passionate, dedicated, and talented leader. I've had the honor of working alongside him in his capacity as CEO of Hopeland, and his creativity, resourcefulness, and vision are amazing assets. Not only is he engaging and personable, he quickly captures and distills complex problems and finds strategic paths forward that will lead to significant impact. I love that part of his career has been working to ensure more children have loving families, because that is a passion of my heart as well. I can think of no better ally to have in that work than Nick Evans.

In this role I have been responsible for overseeing a number of contracts across the North West of England. I've been asked to showcase the services I manage to many national visitors, a recent example is the DoH lead John McCracken. Responsibilities included managing a portfolio of services such as primary care, criminal justice, community recovery and young person’s services. I managed the financial, performance, stakeholder aspects of a number of services over different locations. I enjoyed leading and working with others to achieves results. I served as a board member and trustee of a number of charities. I have worked with GP colleagues to develop an innovative approach to substance misuse which treats the whole person in a truly holistic way in line with a public health approach. This approach has attracted national attention from Public Health England. This model was also presented at the national RCGP (Royal College of General Practice) conference in 2014.

    • Services Manager

One of my major roles while overseeing the contracts for Liverpool was developing and turning one of the largest prescribing services in the country into an active recovery service. I led on the re-design of primary care systems and pioneered the handover of the prescription management system back to general practice. This ensured the smooth delivery of prescriptions to over a thousand service users.

    • Implementation and Transition Manager
      • Sep 2009 - Jan 2010

In 2009 the Lighthouse Project declared bankruptcy and overnight I was asked to take up the role as Implementation and Transition Manager. This involved transferring all the the data from one service to another, agreeing premises, re-designing staff teams, setting new budgets and working with over 100 people to ensure service continuity. This also involved ensuring that service delivery was not affected for the thousands of clients that access these services.

    • Project Manager
      • May 2006 - Sep 2009

While managing Young Addaction Liverpool, I developed a number of pioneering initiatives such as a schools drugs pathway across Liverpool alongside colleagues from Healthy Schools. I also developed the 18 – 25 Transitional/young adult service which is a true example of responding to the feedback and needs of service users and implementing a well resourced and robust service. I was responsible for bringing a number of new funding streams into Liverpool which benefited the city.
