Volunteer Income Taxation Assistant (VITA)
-
Jan 2015 - Apr 2016
Started during tax season of 2015 as a volunteer tax preparer. The taxpayers consisted mostly of international graduate students who knew very little about filing their taxes. Other taxpayers included lower income residents around the Lexington area. For tax season in 2016, I was promoted to Site Coordinator - a position that monitored and helped tax preparers with any questions or concerns they had. In this role, I was also responsible for finalizing tax returns by quality reviewing the tax preparer's work. As the volunteer in charge, I was able to enhance strong leadership, discipline, and time management skills during a busy tax season. Show less

Co-op/Intern
-
Jan 2014 - Apr 2014
As an intern, I was very fortunate to gain exposure to both audit and tax work, as I had no clue which route I wanted to pursue at the time. The first two months consisted of a few audit engagements which require a strong ability to work as a team to complete various tasks in a timely manner. Such tasks included reviewing many client accounts such as Cash, A/R, PP&E, expenses, etc., and involved reviewing bank reconciliations, confirming customer collections, and vouching accounting records to documentation. My tax exposure involved preparation of tax returns for U.S. and foreign individuals, trusts, and corporations. Main tax filings included forms 1040, 1040NR, 1041, 1120, and 1120S. I gained valuable experience using ProSystem fx software. Show less

Sales Representative
-
May 2008 - Dec 2012
Sales Representative position at this retailer throughout my high school career. This job entailed interacting with customers with a customer-service and people-oriented focus. Through this, I started to develop strong communication skills and an ability to assess customer needs. I returned to work over the holidays during my first year of college as the challenge of working during Black Friday and Christmas was my favorite part about this job.
