The other recommendations for Nick Harrison are so "spot on" that I am finding it hard to say something that will tell you more about him. Enthusiastic, creative, good listener, reliable, are all words I would have used. What I think marks Nick out in a very competitive world is his modesty, generosity and lack of ego or fear. I worked with Nick for 9 months on the LEAD Europe programme and though I was the leader of the programme I can honestly say I learned more perhaps FROM Nick about how to interact with people, how to ask questions, when to take the lead and when to be let others speak. If only we could clone Nick, we could get sustainability sorted.
Ted Fowler
Nick worked with us at Creating Excellence for 3 years following his work at Bristol City Council. we were lucky to have him, not only for his expertise in assessing and managing evidence - but far more significantly his ability to de-mystify "evidence-based" decision making. For Creating Excellence this had always been core to our employment of experts: they they empower our stakeholders, be they in grass roots communities, other fields of expertise or amongst the investment and policy communities - often in more than one of these. Thus Nick demonstrates to many uncertain people how mutually understandable and credible evidence provides part of the currency of good practice and value exchange, and investment...rather than another 'tick-box' or perceived obstacle to 'getting heard/understood/recognised'. His work enables us to provide a strong foundation for partnership adn development.
