If you run your own business the question is not what you do but is there anything you do not do. Apart from the day to day paperwork I provide outsourced IT support and solutions to local SME clients and provide home visits to the general public as well. The company also offers repair and upgrade services on PC and Laptop computers. SME work covers everything from the supply, install and configuration of Servers and Clients or Peer to Peer Networks via LAN, WLAN and WAN to simply answering a question on how to do something on your PC. VOIP replacement of PBX and ISDN based systems is also an area I have covered. Show less

    • Director
      • Aug 2000 - Jun 2001

In charge of ordering stock, servicing and construction of computers, network administration. I was responisble for the creation of a customer centered approach and moved the company forward to word of mouth exceeding advertising in terms of effectiveness. We became a premium supplier of new computers to the public in the area. Increased professionalism also resulted in breaking into the local SME market. • Librarian
      • 1999 - 2000

This challenging role saw my computer skills used to good effect in moving an ageing hand written BASIC database and issuing system over to a propietery Library system. My knowledge facilitated the negotiations with the supplier and allowed the technical problems of importing the existing database to be overcome. What had been a laborious manual task stretching many months ahead became an overnight move. I was also solely responisble for the succesful bid for a large DfEE grant for computer and projection equipment for the Library from start to finish. In my own time I also coached the Junior Cricket team and the Senior Girls Team with some success. Three of the Girls team were selected for the East Anglian Squad after only a few months of training starting as novices. Show less

    • Cricket Coach
      • 1985 - 1987

In charge of the coaching programme for the Secondary Schools on the West Coast. This was primarily around Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah although I did have a spell in the hills around Tambunan with the Orphanage. I followed on from the solid start made by Col H T Gunasekara in the previous two years during which I was his apprentice. I was actively involved with the local schools and the Education and Sports Ministries. This resulted in the revival of the dormant state inter schools cricket competition which I am proud to say was won by my West Coast Division Team. I also coached the local Full Boarding School (Sekolah Berasrama Penuh) along with Mr Pradhan Singh and the team we created made an impressive first showing in the National Inter Boarding School Cup giving the previous years champions a very close run needing only a wicket to win. The match was sadly called off due to bad light and went to a judges decision. Following my return to the UK I was pleased to hear that the Sabah State Team, now comprised of at least 50% of my students had taken the Malaysian Cricket Association Cup and were now national champions again for the second time in the history of the Sabah Cricket Association. It was a pleasure, and an honour, to have been a seminal part of that victory. It was also a wonderful result for my mentor Col H T Gunasekara proving his instruction of both our students and myself had been of great value. Show less
