I became an Engineering Intern at Three Valleys Municipal Water District (TVMWD), one of the 26 Member Agencies of the Metropolitan Water District. I started in January 2008 and worked there until August 2011 to pursue my Masters in Environmental Water Resources Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. There I assisted an engineering staff of five. My daily tasks included: updating TVMWD member agencies production reports, TVMWD Water Sales and Consumption Reports, construction management, writing standard operation procedures for construction activity, revising as-built engineering drawings with AutoCAD, writing requests for proposals, agreements, and specifications, creating historical access databases, sounding and recording production wells, reorganizing TVMWD engineering drawings, recording sludge pond reports, obtaining flowmeter readings and parshall flume readings, gathering historical production data for the San Antonio Spreading Grounds next to TVMWD, and providing tours to upperclassmen at neighboring engineering universities. The samples were collected at the influent, primary clarifier effluent, activated sludge tanks, effluent from the secondary clarifiers, and effluent from the sand filter beds and disinfection and then immediately transported to Cal Poly Pomona for the lab class.
