Working within the KTN Agri-Food team, on a project in collaboration with IFST (Institute of Food Science and Technology) aiming to identify, consolidate and develop the external facing resources relating to recruitment, training and staff retention. This has provided the basis for further work to be continued by IFST to support the sector in tackling the workforce challenges it faces. The outputs of this project included the production of a short report investigating a number topics relating to engagement, skills and recruitment in the food and drink sector, providing evidence to support the sector in its future direction and success. Moreover, a database of currently available resources was built to support the development of a comprehensive and consolidated online repository of materials for the food and drink sector to be hosted. Moreover, during my placement with KTN I also published two blogs posts on their website. The first explored the future trends in food and drink, whilst the second was a reflection on my placement. • Fresh Produce Summer Research Placement
      • Jul 2015 - Aug 2015

I undertook a 7 week Summer research Placement at the Fresh Produce Research Centre within Harper Adams University. I ran my own project looking at "Vine weevil damage to strawberry plants and the effectiveness of available controls". This required me to organize and manage a large project over the period of the placement to deliver results and findings within 7 weeks. During my time at HAU I also assisted the other summer students on their projects, as well as other trials that were running elsewhere. This ranged from helping out in harvests and recording a variety of plant data. Throughout the placement we also visited a number of fresh produce businesses, providing an insight into the sector, explaining the importance of innovation within the field. As a part of the placement I also delivered a handful of presentations, including one to G's Growers (One of Europe's leading fresh produce businesses) and another to AHDB (Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board).
