Niamh Halpenny worked with Maynooth Students' Union for 2 years. I found Niamh to be immensely capable, hardworking with a great ability to manage workload. Niamh had a significant role to play in the provision of support services to a campus population and was competent and driven in her ambition to enhance the student experience. Niamh took the lead on a number of new initiatives and with her focus and dedication delivered on the implementation of these; thus ensuring lasting change for the representative structures through the strength of the student voice within the academic framework. Niamh worked with her team in a positive , encouraging and inclusive way and embraced the culture of the organisation making it her own, embedding it in the way she both approached her work and her colleagues. I would not hesitate to recommend Niamh, and sincerely wish her every success in her future path, which I have no doubt is very bright. Niamh is the most resourceful person I have met in Ireland, making life in College quite enjoyable. She has been making the "burden of being a class representative" lighter to carry with all her care and support. Moreover, her ability to change conflictful environment in a pleasant one with only her presence is remarkable, it has been such a delightful opportunity to be working with her. I am also learning very much with her leadership, conflict management and liaising skills.

The Student Senate is a body of elected students that represent different faculties and interest groups around the campus of Maynooth University. When a student is elected to the Senate they become a Senator. Senate has a few functions. Firstly, the members of the executive must give officer reports for scrutiny. The policies that the union takes are also decided here. MSU senators can debate and mandate executive officers to undertake certain tasks.
