Niamh spent her placement year at Leatherhead Food, where she joined the Nutrition Research Department. Niamh was a conscientious worker and always very keen and enthusiastic. Niamh is extremely personable and built up a great rapport with all of the volunteers, which was crucial to her role. Whilst working in Servier I worked in the Analytical Service Lab. I worked in three different labs: the stability and validation lab, the micro lab and the semi finish product lab My role: Performing a wide range of testing on stability samples at various time points from initial to end of shelf life e.g. assay and impurities, content uniformity, dissolutions, water content, TLC, disintegration, hardness and weights, using HPLC, UHPLC, Karl Fisher, Coulometer, UV, Sotax and Vankel baths) Working within the Validation team to carry out cleaning validation which includes swapping equipment in production and carrying out analysis within a certain time frame so production can get results as needed Crosstrained with microbiology team to carry out routine testing (Bioburden- TAMC and TYMC and E. Coli testing) on all raw material, stability and semi finish product batches, carried out water testing and wrote up results on LIMs Trained on checking small tests, content unformity, dissolutions and micro analysis Good knowledge of LIMs, Empower 3, Cat webs, picomto, microsoft word and Excel I was part of the Emergency Response Team for the ASL department at Servier and a first aid responder Show less

I was situated in the granulation area of production where Takeda's largest selling product Lansoprazole (used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders) is used to produce Lansoprazole coating micro- granules. Enteric coated micro- granules are also produced here.
