After losing my job at the beginning of lockdown, Scrunch Angelz was born as a way to get crafty in quarantine and keep up my social media skills. Sustainability was very much at the top of our list for this new venture - that's why all of our scrunchies are made from remnant fabrics and our packaging is recyclable too! Stage Runner
-
Mar 2018 - Mar 2018
The Scottish Style Awards recognise inspirational individuals and enterprises that enrich society through their distinguished activities in the arts and popular culture. This year I worked in a team of 4 Stage Runners to ensure the evening went smoothly. My role required: •setting up the event (table decorations, gift bags) •assisting guests with queries •ensuring trophies and awards were given to the correct people/industries •ensuring microphones were switched off when required, and handed to the speaker at the correct time •escorting winning guests to the photography station This was a high pressure role as, among other factors, the event was being filmed. Therefore my team and I knew we had to fulfil our roles whilst remaining relatively unseen. Show less

Social Media Manager
-
Oct 2017 - Nov 2017
As part of a University project (The Enterprise Value Challenge) we were given the task to create a brand, choose a product to sell, purchase materials, manufacture the product, then trade in University in order to raise money for charity. Social Media was to be created and utilised during this time to promote the brand and product. I contributed in all of these areas, and came up with the name for the brand (Patch It). However my main role was managing the Social Media. My responsibilities included: •ensuring that there was a cohesive theme so that the page was aesthetically pleasing •consistently detailing the brand message and purpose (to make money for charity) •keeping followers up to date on the sourcing progress (making polls to involve the followers), behind the scenes production of the product, the selling date and location, price points and an incentive to buy •providing an incentive to purchase. I was able to reach out to a local Krispy Kreme and acquired a box of glazed donuts (free of charge) to give to the first 10 people who purchased a bag on the selling day The project was about business, trade, enterprise and entrepreneurship - I learned valuable transferrable skills in all of these areas. Customer Service Advisor
-
Oct 2016 - Dec 2016
I worked as a customer service advisor, specifically for furniture queries, in the Hamilton Contact (Call) Centre. Before starting this role I underwent a 6 week training course whereby I had to attend 4 evenings and 1 weekend day per week in order to move into my role with ease. Tests were also taken throughout this 6 week period to monitor progress. My role required: •a high level of customer service, tailored to each specific customer •extensive furniture specific training in order to be equipped to answer any questions asked by customers •in-depth knowledge of John Lewis computer systems - enabling me to place orders for customers, track deliveries, process replacements, authorise goodwill gestures, contact stores across the UK to solve issues/locate goods etc. •both teamwork and individual confidence - able to perform well on my own, maintaining desired stats, but also contributing to team meetings and working towards a collective goal each week During my time working at John Lewis, I was recognised within my team for acquiring the highest level of sales - after only working there for a brief time. This position was extremely valuable in helping me to improve my existing customer service skills, and enabled me to work in a team and on my own (I would regularly be in sole charge of the store). The store was in a prime location - close proximity to several schools and workplaces - meaning lunchtime was busy and demanded focus on my part, without compromising the attention given to each customer. I was fully trained in food handling and preparation during this time. After only working there for a short duration, I was entrusted with the roll of cashing-up and closing up at the end of the working day. This position required me to work 40 hours per week, which gave me the opportunity to build relationships with both the staff and the regular customers, who appreciated the personalised experience this brought to their visit. Leading luxury bridal retailer Eleganza Sposa were seeking enthusiastic students who were looking for experience in fashion events to help out at their annual sample sale at the Bothwell Bridge Hotel. The event took place on Sunday 31st January from 9-5pm. We were required to assist between the hours of 8-6pm. I was required to: •help with the set up and running of the event to ensure it went smoothly •assist customers if required, directing them to the appropriate individual who could help with their requests •work within a team to organise rails throughout the event to ensure the best produce was always displayed •welcome guests to the event, giving them a pamphlet detailing the specifics of the event and its sponsors •assist with the clearing up of the event, ensuring remaining dresses and accessories were not damaged in the process Show less

Dresser
-
Oct 2015 - Oct 2015
The Scottish Style Awards recognise inspirational individuals and enterprises that enrich society through their distinguished activities in the arts and popular culture. During this role I was assigned to a model, entrusted with the designer garments and accessories he was to be dressed in. I built up a good relationship with the model throughout the night, gaining his trust and engaging in conversation to put him at ease. My job was to ensure the model was dressed to the standard set out, and to the specifications given to me by the Stylist. He was to be ready in time for his catwalk appearance, then quickly changed into his second outfit for the final walk. This role required focus and attention to detail, whilst also maintaining a personal experience for the model. The Scottish Style Awards was an extremely beneficial event to be a part of. Show less
