  Received a scholarship to conduct research work in MaREI under a supervisor during summer break. Conducted individual research on a project related to the logistics of wet storage for floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) components. Key tasks were as follows: • Literature review of current knowledge on wet storage and state of FOWT assembly logistics in general, as well as numerical analysis of FOWT under representative wave conditions using Flexcom’s FEA software to inform mooring and anchoring requirements. • Parametric analyses to determine a range of suitable mooring and anchoring configurations, optimized to maximize the area utilization and minimize platform excursions. • Presented research findings to industry partners. • Used python to automate tasks in simulation workflow including model set up and post processing.   Returned to Altratech following a successful placement to work on the development of microfluidic channels for assembly on chips. • Optimized microfluidic geometries and flow patterns to optimize the sensitivity of the chip readings by conducting lab experiments. • Used my initiative to develop a program using GNU Octave, which automated a data analysis procedure consisting of many repetitive steps. The automation of the analysis of our experimental data helped to increase the time efficiency of the work of my colleagues and me. I created many versions of this program with different features to account for advancing and varying statistical analysis methods. Show less

Worked within a research and development team, main tasks involved assisting with the development and optimizing the performance of a semi-automated biotechnology system. • Performed experiments and the analysis of the experimental data, with an aim to increase the sensitivity and specificity of the assay. • Became competent with the use of common biotechnology lab equipment through regular lab experiments. • Learned skills required to critically analyze and present data to colleagues on a regular basis in meetings. • Became familiar with theory behind assay components, such as nucleic acid hybridization and magnetic separation, allowing me to identify important variables and work on experimental design on my own initiative to optimize the system.
