For the 'Vrouwen van Breskens' ('Women of Breskens') project I make anonymous Turkish female guestworkers visible in the archives. I identify the women in a collection of press photos and search for them to interview them about their working and migration experiences as Turco-Belgian border workers in a fish factory in Breskens, the Netherlands. The women tell me tales of (reproductive) labour, hardships, migration and uprootedness that help me contextualize this very peculiar part in post WWII labour migration history from the mediterranean. While I largely experienced the documentary series 'Kinderen van de Migratie' (Canvas) in its research phase during my internship, throughout my temporary employment for 'Kinderen van de Migratie' I had the pleasure of working on the project in its production phase. I got to look for and interview the witnesses in a more thorough manner in preparation of the studio interviews. During the recordings I interviewed Turkish and Dutch speaking witnesses. This docu series focuses on the labour migration to Belgium from Italy, Turkey, Morocco (...) after the second World War. It combines history with human interest and is based on oral testimonies/oral history. As a junior editor I had diverse tasks like: -Interviewing witnesses -Researching the content of the program -Organizing academic debates -Liaising with professors and other experts I worked as an editor for the documentary series 'Kinderen van de migratie'.
