  I teach College credit classes in Beginning and Intermediate Spanish and I work with the International Studies Education Committee to promote internationalization of courses. I plan study abroad trips and confer with other instructors and professors on travel and internationalization of courses and the campus.

  I teach Spanish at any level. In addition I have duties as Chair of the lanugage department. I am adviser to adjunt language faculty including French, American Sign Language, and online courses in Mandarin, Arabic, and Russian through Northern Virginia Community College..I chair the International Education Committee under the auspices of the Vice President of Instruction. The committee members are interested in international issues, including study abroad, leading trips abroad and developing programs on campus to work with speakers of other languages, our immigrant population that registers at about 40 different languages. We sponsor a club for everyone to learn about each other, and we encourage faculty to participate in exchange programs with faculty from various parts of the world.It is my wish that when I leave the college, someone will be named to be in charge of of this group as a full time employee.   I am one of three teachers who practice English with graduate students from other countries. They are research and graduate students at the University of Virginia. We are assisted by UVA student volunteers. The volunteers are recruited by Madison House. We have enough students that we can do one to one conversations on U.S. history, general topics, etc. The class gets more popular every semester.
