• Led progress and performance of local workforce system; Managed a budget of $6m with a team of 12. • Worked with Board of Directors to lead policy development and program growth, developed the annual budget. • Evaluated and directed the investment of public funding to meet industry sector needs and support economic development initiatives in the Newark region. • Engaged businesses and employers; leveraged resources of the Newark public workforce system to develop training and workforce preparation activities that addressed human resource needs articulated by employers & businesses • Directed and led the successful implementation of a $3 million competitive USDOL Workforce Innovation grant “Managing for Success” – recipient of single grant awarded in NJ out of 25 projects funded nationally, selected from 300 applicants. • Led the development and adoption of a five year strategic plan in Newark that is now the agency’s blueprint through 2018. • Created Newark Jobs Connect, a new job placement & business solutions center placing 600 residents in new jobs in its first 8 months, with $1 million in start-up funding. • Launched Newark Tweet My Jobs, an electronic workforce development platform posting over 100,000 jobs tailored for the Newark region, achieved a 10% increase in job placements each quarter and served over 18,000 job seekers. • Launched Newark College Institute (NCI) promoting the alignment of career development with educational attainment for Newark students. Provided opportunities for paid summer work experience with Newark area companies and agencies. Over 200 students over 2 years. An additional 1200 junior and high school students participated in summer youth employment throughout the City. • Restructured the NWIB 501(c)3 organization to improve staff capacity, effectiveness and image; following the reorganization, funding grew by $4 million.
