  My role at APRA, was an interesting and challenging role, that includes managing the merger of the Private Health Insurance Administration Council into APRA and taking on the role of Special Counsel. In managing the merger into APRA I have responsibility for legacy issues such as staffing matters, transitional legal issues and operational issues such as asset management. As Special Counsel I have responsibility for a team of lawyers who specialise in private health insurance, general insurance, life insurance and Friendly Societies. We provide advice (and undertake drafting) on the regulation by APRA of these industries including (for example) compliance with legislative and prudential standard requirements, applications for transfers of business and applications under the Finance Sector (Shareholdings) Act 1998.
