Neil is a very capable Operator and adaptable to ever changing vessel movements. I worked alongside Neil and found him well versed with shipping operations and appreciated the way he applied himself to assist the technical team with unplanned repairs or short notice disruptions. I fully recommend Neil as an asset to any shipping operation.

Bernhard Schulte Ship Management (Deutschland) Ship Operator In Bernhard Schulte I have 6 vessels under my control, 3 product tankers, 2 chemical tankers and one crude oil tanker. At present 2 of these vessels are trading on the spot market, the others are either in pools or on long time T/C. Trading on the spot market with 2 Chemical Tankers allows me to purchase bunkers on a regular basis, work closely with port agents handling our vessels, and have direct input with our chartering dept on the future fixtures of the vessels. As well as these tasks I have to create and send freight and demurrage invoices and track payment for the same. I report to Management on a monthly and quarterly basis with all costs associated with my vessel Show less

I currently have 8 Panamax and 2 Suezmax vessels under my care as Commercial Operator, 2 of the vessel are bare-boated in and we also have a bare-boat out so I am familiar with the likes of BIMCO bareboat charter, MOA’s as well as Shell Time 4 charter party agreement. All of these vessels are in pools, Panamax and Suezmax Int, I work closely with our pre fixture dept in Ft Lauderdale to ensure the vessels are fully approved and any incidents have been closed out via the correct reporting procedures, I also work with the post fixture office in Santiago on bunkers stems, LOI’s for change of disport, non production of original bills, commingling cargoes onboard, chemical injections to reduce H2S, co coordinating voyage orders, off hires, repair/maintenance periods, dry docking schedules, vessel re measurement. The role of Commercial Operator involves day to day communications with Charterers, Pool managers and local agents. The role also includes daily contact with the vessels about commercial issues onboard, certification for port entry, environmental issues, engine room waster removal, port restrictions and day to day running of the vessels. I am in charge of authorizing all local agent pro forma’s and disbursement accounts and querying any that may be incorrect. I raise hire invoices on a monthly basis for our T/C out vessels and follow them through until payment is received. I monitor the speed and consumptions for the fleet on a monthly basis, this also leads onto the pool key distribution review carried out every 6 months in order to maximise our pool earnings.I have been heavily involved in the emergency response team in 3 serious incidents onboard 3 separate vessels within OSG, a grounding of a fully laden oil tanker in China, a engine room explosion in Thailand and a main engine failure on departure San Francisco with a near grounding under the Golden Gate Bridge. In all 3 incidents we were able avoid any injury to the ships crew and zero pollution. Show less
