Lancaster, UK Researching the effects of the Earth’s ionosphere on radio systems. I'm currently developing an online forecasting service for airline HF communications which predicts outages due to space weather (solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and solar proton events) by assimilating data from riometers (which measure cosmic noise absorption), magnetometers, and spacecraft instruments. I'm currently developing an online forecasting service for airline HF communications which predicts outages due to space weather (solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and solar proton events) by assimilating data from riometers (which measure cosmic noise absorption), magnetometers, and spacecraft instruments. I have provided 7 years consultancy to Airbus Defence & Space advising on the ionospheric impacts on the European Space Agency’s Biomass radar satellite. I maintain an interest in ionospheric radio scintillation (scattering) which affects satcoms, satellite navigation (Galileo, GPS etc.), and satellite or space-tracking radars: I recently co-supervised a PhD student on scintillation studies using imaging riometers. Teaching: Supervised an MPhys final-year project student (2022-2023). Co-supervised the 3rd-year undergraduate Space Science Team Projects (Dept of Physics) and co-supervised PhD students in the Space & Planetary Physics group. Promoted to Research Fellow (Level 8) in 2023. Show less

European Space Agency (ESA) BIOMASS mission performance analysis. I researched the ionospheric impacts and mitigation for this polarimetric interferometric synthetic aperture radar (PolInSAR). I provided the Ionosphere generation and correction modules for the BIOMASS end-to-end radar simulator (BEES) - an international software project led by DLR (Germany) for ESA. Teaching: Lecturer for the 4th-year course on "Signal Processing" and tutorial leader in the School of Mathematics and… Show more European Space Agency (ESA) BIOMASS mission performance analysis.
