I recruited Neil into my team, and the wider API Group. From Neil’s first interview I was extremely impressed with his capability, his research and his attention to detail. This relates to academic background and very importantly his interest in people through his sports background and drive for cultural change in business. Following his attendance at a parent company Lean training programme, Neil returned enthusiastic and presented a multi-point document noting his views on what improvements we could engage with. Importantly this was his view on what he wanted to happen, not what he expected others to do. This kick-started a ‘make it right first time’ culture which has had significant impact and formed part our current improvements programme. Neil was also directly customer focussed.
