Neil Goldader is an extraordinary engineer. At Lacuna, he showcased his technical brilliance by integrating new transportation modes and spearheading the development of our billing platform. His significant contributions to DevOps, from automation to handling on-call incidents, were invaluable. Neil was probably the busiest person at our company, but he always made time to help. His collaborative spirit was so prevalent, we jokingly created a "shh-don't-tell-neil" Slack channel in homage to his ubiquitous involvement. In addition to his technical prowess, Neil's work with the Client Services team led to improved client onboarding and support. His combination of expertise, leadership, and collegiality make him an exceptional colleague. I eagerly look forward to any opportunity to collaborate with Neil again.

      - Technical leadership for integration of new modes of transportation in Lacuna’s stack and the OMF MDS by designing and implementing MDS' first new-mode in addition to Micromobility, Passenger Services (Taxi/TNC/For Hire Vehicle). - Lead engineering design and solely implemented the Lacuna Billing platform (backend and frontend), which processes tens of thousands of trips a day, and determines program trip fees based on a cascading geospatial pricing configuration to incentivize deployments in equity zones, and disincentivize vehicle deployments in high congestion areas.- In addition to being a member of the Platform Team, also supported the DevOps team. Regularly contributed to our deployment toolchain automation (Helm templates, bash scripts, Jenkins, Github Actions etc..). Was involved in over 90% of the oncall production incident triaging and remediation, jumping in to help wherever needed in the stack (from the frontend all the way down to the database). - Drove adoption of gRPC with Protobuf to replace inefficient custom gRPC web+json for core platform RPC. Successfully designed and implemented an extension to our existing RPC framework that makes transitioning a service to the new pattern nearly seamless once protobuf definitions have been defined.- Built various mobile applications to demonstrate the functionality of the core platform in both SwiftUI and React Native- Utilized experimental NodeJS multithreading to compute a suite of analytics in 3 days which was expected to take ~4.5 months to complete prior to optimization.- Worked with Client Services team to design & implement internal admin tooling to optimize new client onboarding & support. - Provided technical support for LADOT regarding technical and operational compliance of providers operating under the LADOT Dockless Mobility Program.- Authored the MDS Stops endpoints for the Provider and Agency APIs, and implemented them in mds-core to enable rich support for docked micromobility.

      - Co-Authored the initial MDS Compliance and Policy APIs in the Open Mobility Foundation's Mobility Data Specification.- Developed implementation of MDS Policy API in the open source MDS-Core- Lead development of initial MDS Compliance Snapshot computation (bird's-eye-view evaluation of MDS Policies against MDS Agency data) in the open source MDS-Core Repository.- Contributed substantially to rewriting the existing Javascript implementation of MDS-Core into a type-safe Typescript project. Was the primary maintainer for firmware used in Zipcar and LocalMotion by Zipcar fleets. Worked closely with the Product team to design creative approaches to problems that impact members. Explored integrating third-party telematics solutions with the existing Zipcar infrastructure.

Lead design & development a proprietary Telematics Unit emulator. Designed multiple open source MPLab X plug-ins for device simulation in Java hosted on the Zipcar Github, as well as a collection of external components mimicking standard peripheral behavior (modem, eFlash, etc) written in Golang. Provided oncall technical support for the Zipcar test vehicles.Implemented identical features across two different hardware platforms running on in-vehicle telematics units in C/C++.

    • Quality Assurance Engineering Co-op
      • Jan 2018 - Jun 2018

Designed and executed regression tests for Zipcar Telematics units. Managed release of beta firmware to a select number of vehicles in the Boston/Providence Zipcar fleets. Used full Atlassian suite to log bugs, monitor repositories, and write extensive documentation for Zipcar components.

Worked in a corporate environment for almost half a year, and prototyped & iterated to MVP a Gravic Shadowbase Configuration GUI Tool. Implemented the initial prototype in C#, and pivoted to an Electron development environment (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, VueJS, Node.js, Electron) to enable a more modern user experience. The internship concluded with a presentation that went over the aforementioned product developed during my time at the company, the Gravic Shadowbase SQL Manager 2017. Designed & provisioned the deployment of iPads into camp curriculum with a selection of hand-picked educational games and activities for the younger campers. Designed new curriculum for older students primarily based off of web applications & games interfaced with through a desktop computer. Both curricula focused on spatial reasoning, and mathematical problem solving, while still being fun! Tutored Middle School students 1:1 in basic Processing (modified fork of Java developed at MIT). We covered the entire High School Processing curriculum (approximately a semester of course work) in 12 weeks with 2hr/week sessions. The curriculum consisted of the fundamentals of programming (basic data types, order of evaluation, loops, type casting, OOP), basic geometric manipulation (matrices & transforms), and project hygiene (styling guidelines, code comments).
