Neil is a world class Internet and Network Engineer. I've worked with a few in my 20 years of experience and he remains the best. I say that unequivocally. He was a key member of the team that designed, built, maintained, and ran a national telecommunications fibre optic backbone servicing many blue chip customers. That team was 6 people. Gives you a sense of the horsepower. He's also a guy with a tremendous sense of ethics. Of doing the right thing. Doing the right thing for customers and doing the right thing to ensure the network keeps working. No network is too big for Neil.

I've worked with Neil for many years now and have always been impressed by his professionalism and capacity to understand the big picture as well as the technical details. His dedication to customer satisfaction while maintaining a robust and resilient service has made him a pleasure to work alongside. I would have no hesitation recommending Neil to design and operate the biggest networks you can throw at him.

NZNOG is the New Zealand Network Operators' Group. It is a mailing list hosted by the University of Waikato, and is intended to provide a means of easy collaboration between network operations staff,. The NZNOG Trust was formed in order to facilitate the annual conference and any other activities that may be required. NZNOG runs an annual conference consisting of workshops, tutorials and presentations on various topics of interest to the network operations community. It also provides an excellent opportunity to network with others in the industry. For a number of years, I have been a member of the Organising Committee which is responsible for the running of the conference. I have been heavily involved since 2004, with the final conference I helped organise being held in 2012 in Christchurch. Many of the years were spent heading the Program Committee, which involved the review and selection of the individual talks, and then organisation of the conference program. I am now a Trustee of the NZNOG charitable trust, which is a direction setting position, and providing oversight to the Organising Committee. Show less
