Dr. Farakish provides leadership within the complex apparatus of New York University so faculty can thrive by producing their own original and innovative breakthroughs within their respective disciplines. Negar’s reach not only benefits students but moves the needle on entire disciplines. Essentially, through her passion and subject matter expertise in pedagogy, Negar creates a haven that empowers teachers to make their mark on the stakeholders the university holds most dear - its students. I have also been a student of Dr. Farakish. When she conducts pedagogy workshops, I clear my schedule because the return on investment of attending is enormous. To illustrate Dr. Farakish’s professional impact on all the professors in her division, I once told her that when you move a cannon by mere inches, the cannon ball’s trajectory changes by miles. In that same vein, whenever I attend one of Negar’s pedagogy workshops, she reliably and consistently provides operational advice that professors deploy in their classrooms, to their betterment, for the remainder of their academic careers. Negar is the division’s fulcrum that lifts all the faculty. Specifically, she is generous in the time she devotes helping professors, expert in her subject matter domain of pedagogy, and empathetic in her approach. The best attribute of Dr. Farakish, apparent to this observer, is that she reflects someone who views higher education as a career, pursued for a greater common good.

Negar's expertise, experience, insight, and proactive recommendations have provided me with some of my favorite and strongest skills as an Adjunct Faculty at NYU SPS. She consistently makes time to patiently address any questions or concerns, following through until an issue is resolved. Negar is driven by her passion and compassion to see faculty be the best, most creative and innovative instructors we can be. Because of Negar, our classes are more compelling, we've learned to engage students better and on different platforms, and most important, to provide students and faculty with unique learning and growth opportunities that will enrich the student's lives and our own. She is a tremendous asset to NYU SPS!
