➢ NEPIA is one of the 13 international P&I clubs and is part of the International Group of P&I clubs (which provides cover to roughly 90% of the world’s ocean-going tonnage). ➢ Two weeklong work experience spread across four different companies all linked to the Marine Insurance industry. ➢ North P&I – Learnt about the different P&I clubs in the world, the distinct types of marine insurances and the services North had to offer (in particular - P&I, H&M, Fixed P&I, FD&D, War risks, Loss prevention, etc). ➢ Tasked with a landscape scanning assignment to browse through the other 13 clubs’ websites. ➢ Stann Marine – being a marine law firm, allowed me to assess a few Admiralty cases (the likes of MSC Flaminia and Ever Given) and provide my judgements and initial thoughts on them. ➢ Miller Insurance – are insurance and reinsurance brokers. Explored an entirely new aspect of the insurance industry, had a tour of the Llyod’s Building, and spoke to underwriters. ➢ Spent time with various departments (the likes of H&M, War, Ship Recycling, etc) understanding their work and gained valuable glimpses of the use of PPL. ➢ Standard Club – is yet another international P&I club. InvestIN Education is an organisation that provides young students with work experience in their desired field of interest through small internships. I participated in a virtual internship hosted by InvestIN, based around Investment banks. This was held by qualified and experienced professionals in the field. I understood the structure of an investment bank and witnessed and performed merger and acquisition deals plus compete live against other traders in a stock market simulation.
