Jan 2015 - Oct 2016
It is a community-based health development oriented non-governmental organization (NGO). The mission of the agency is to prevent diseases, promote the health, rights and socio-economic development status of women of reproductive age who are disadvantaged, children and youths in common settings whilst adopting Behavioral Change Common (BCC) strategies, PHC services and offering scientific alternatives to Harmful Traditional Practices (HTP) affecting the health of these targeted groups. The vision of my agency is to bring about a sustainable improvement in the health and socio-economic status of women, children, youths, and orphans and vulnerable children. The agency’s goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality among disadvantaged women, children, and youths. At the core of its work the agency informs, advocates for social changes, educates, and empowers women, children, and youths on health issues and thus enabling them to make great health choices that would improve their health. The agency develops health programs and workshops aimed at addressing the detected common community health problems such as the increased rate of violence in the community of Eti-Osa LGA in Lagos which was addressed with the peace building and conflict resolution workshop. The agency works with its stakeholders to ensure that policies and plans support disadvantaged women, children, and youths. It ensures that the disadvantaged in the communities are linked to the needed personal and health services when otherwise unavailable and inaccessible. I was involved in developing the program on sexual and reproductive health for out-of-school girls in Gbara Community, I developed and gathered the program resource materials, pre. & post test assessment. Conducted numerous advocacy visits, sensitization workshops, and mobilization efforts. Show less
