Nayaka Imaduddin Abdus Salam (Nayo) and I worked together during our time with the Australian Consortium for ‘In-Country’ Indonesian Studies. During this time, I worked closely with Nayo when he was the Indonesian Language Program Assistant and was responsible for the administration and program development of our Indonesian Language Programs, and in his more recent role as Marketing and Student Recruitment Officer. In both roles, Nayo demonstrated himself to be a highly effective communicator with a wide range of audiences, including Australian students, university staff, team members, and other stakeholders. Nayo’s intercultural and interpersonal communication skills have resulted in Nayo in becoming very effective at stakeholder engagement. In addition, as Marketing and Student Recruitment Officer, Nayo was personally responsible for a large portfolio of partner universities. Nayo’s efforts in this area contributed to strong growth in enrolments from Australian undergraduate students and in engagement from partner universities. Nayo also contributed to key projects such as the publication of our annual report and managing our alumni engagement, which were highly beneficial to the organisation. It was great to work with Nayo and I would recommend him without hesitation to any potential employer.
