In the middle of difficulty, there lies an opportunity. These words came to life when I realised that even amidst a pandemic, there were doors I could knock at and have wonderful experiences. The applications for acquiring this post of the assistant director had opened on April 2021. After attending three HMUN India’s, two offline and one online. The applications for acquiring this post of the assistant director had opened on April 2021. After attending three HMUN India’s, two offline and one online. I was aware of the sanctity of this post and the responsibility that came along with it. The most exciting factor about this opportunity was the quality of debate will get to witness and the amount of insightful interactions i would be able to encounter. On 9th June 2021, I received an email from the Secretary General of Harvard Model United Nations India 2021congratulating me on being the new Assistant Director of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) 2021. August 12th, the first day of our conference. There was one Director and three Assistant Directors to assist him in every committee of the conference. Our director was also a sophomore named Hamad who had taken Political Science as his major in Harvard. I didn't realise how fast 4 days went by and on the last day, Hamad gave me the opportunity to lead the 53 delegate-committee for one session. I was completely out of words and thankful for this opportunity. The best part of MODEL UNITED NATIONS is that after its over, after the fierce competition we all exchange contact information and keep in touch. It's like after every MUN I attend, I gain a new big family. I am eternally grateful for Principal ma’am, Vice principal ma’am and all the teachers who gave me this opportunity. If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door. I hope everyone out there overcomes the adversity in front of them and chases opportunities because we never know if this could be an opportunity of a lifetime.
