VF-O2 SIP INTERCONNECT CLIENT: Vodafone UK POSITION: Test Lead The Vodafone Core Circuit Switched network is interconnected to O2 to allow Vodafone subscribers to make and receive calls to O2 subscribers using circuit related TDM based interconnects. This allows calls to either be passed directly to O2 for termination or passed to O2 for onward transit to a destination network. SCCP Signaling interconnect also exists with O2 supporting inter-operator SMS. This project introduces the IP Interconnect between Vodafone and O2 using the Session Initiated Protocol (SIP), a non TDM based signaling system. Also this covers the provision of IP SIGTRAN interconnect for SCCP signaling traffic. EU Roaming Separation: VF-UK.EU Legislation published on 14 December 2012 requires all Mobile Network Operators to allow subscribers to choose an “Alternative Roaming Provider” when roaming in the EU (and EEA) by July 2014. The regulation aims at reducing the difference between the national and the roaming tariff in EU.Two methods were identified by the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC).1. Alternate Roaming Provider (ARP) Single IMSI – This includes Voice, SMS, MMS and Data roaming. ARP would have following services for roaming subscribers;• All data sessions initiated in an EEA state or territory• All MT voice calls, MMS and SMS received in an EEA state or territory• All MO voice calls, MMS and SMS made in an EEA state or territory and to a destination number registered in an EEA state or territory or rest of world (TBD) excluding premium rate and NGCS services2.
