I was responsible for ensuring 100% plant availability of the two 60 MW furnaces and its auxiliary equipment.   I was fortunate enough to receive a bursary from Glencore in my final year of studies and was obligated to work back one full year. In my first year at Lion Smelter I was appointed as an engineer in training and circulated through the various sections of the plant in order to become familiar with the process.
