  Laboratory Manager: Oversee lab consumable inventory, order all lab supplies, develop positive vendor relationships, maintain equipment service contracts, coordinate repair services, etc.Laboratory Facilities Manager: Daily monitoring of Trane HVAC system and Triatek lab HVAC controls for problems, areas of improvement. Oversight & negotiation of HVAC mechanical and controls service contracts. Work with controls technicians to optimize BAS operation and energy efficiency. Monitor and arrange maintenance for Neptronic steam generators, Powerex laboratory air compressor and dryers, Powerex laboratory vacuum system, Siemens laboratory RO/DI water system, GE 60 kVA UPS system, Linde 3000 gallon bulk nitrogen delivery system, Follet icemaker, etc.Laboratory Design and Move Coordination:● Worked extensively with architects and planners to design Vanderbilt’s first off-campus research laboratory—the VCNDD’s Cool Springs Life Science Center facility.● Managed $2M capital budget for chemistry and DMPK groups. Responsibilities included providing site prep documents for all instrumentation, working with engineers to spec gas delivery, electrical, ventilation, and plumbing systems, and working with architects to design and lay out mechanicals for instrumentation rooms.● Selected, assembled, and installed all Numatics compressed nitrogen filtration/pressure regulation blocks (with Swagelok plumbing) for 15 instrument locations. Installed Swagelok SS high pressure tubing and valves for CO2 delivery to SFC instruments. Wired buck/boost transformers for mass spectrometers.● Scheduled and oversaw move of existing instrumentation to new location. Coordinated installation of new equipment with move of existing instrumentation in multiple phases to keep existing laboratory productive as long as possible. Oversaw chemistry lab personnel move.● Brought all instrumentation online to support quick restart of chemistry in new facility.

  Analytical Chemistry Lead: Chiral SFC screening, preparative chiral SFC separations up to gram-scale. Method development for open-access LCMS and preparative HPLC. General oversight of analytical services provided to medicinal chemistry group.Instrument Technician: Equipment troubleshooting, PM, extensive repair, method development, and programming for:●Five open-access Agilent LCMS systems, 1260/6130 SFCMS, 1290/6540 LCQTOF. Repairs include ion optics cleaning, turbo pump replacement●Two AB SCIEX API 4000 triple-quad LCMS systems, and one AB SCIEX 5500 QTRAP LCMS system. Duties include long-range planning of instrument configurations, Agilent LC installation and troubleshooting, CTC autosampler configuration and troubleshooting, Analyst software installation, negotiation & oversight of service contracts●Five open-access Gilson preparative, dual-pH, reversed-phase HPLC systems with GX-281 and GX-271 liquid handlers, 33x pumps, and 6-column switching valves. Also complete system design and installation●Thar Investigator SFC, PIC Solution PREP 100 SFC●Seven Teledyne Isco Rf 200 flash chromatography instrumentsBasic troubleshooting, coordination of service contracts and scheduling of repair/PM visits for:●Four Biotage Initiator microwaves, two Biotage Isolera flash chromatography instruments●Bruker AVANCE III 400MHz NMR with Prodigy cryoprobe and SampleXPRESS sample changer. Also weekly nitrogen fills, liaison with Vanderbilt’s NMR group.●Numerous Edwards and Varian roughing pumps, Heidolph and Buchi rotary evaporators, Parr hydrogenation apparatus with temperature controller, Parr bomb, Fisher 18Mohm water purifier, etc.
