As an instructor, I taught several classes in both creative writing and English composition. Working this position gave me experience in responding professionally and empathetically to the needs of students, a responsibility not unlike providing customer service in a more conventional work environment. In addition, it allowed me additional experience in the management and manipulation of data, professional communication, and the use of Microsoft Office software and online databases. Responsibilities included maintaining email correspondences with work contacts and Conference participants, data processing through Microsoft Office software (particularly Excel) and maintenance of online databases, as well as the planning and coordination of Conference activities. This position gave me extensive experience in working with data, as well as providing courteous and professional service to clients. Much of my work required that I serve as the official "face" of the Writers’ Conference, and allowed me to hone my skills in providing excellent professional communication, via email and phone calls as well as in face-to-face interactions.
