We collected electrical brain data from patients with pacemakers who were asked to determine if a sound is synchronous or asynchronous to their heartbeat while their heart was driven by the pacemaker or not. The results will enhance our understanding of the brain's ability to detect self-generated, internal bodily signals which construct bodily self-consciousness.
