Nate Snyder

Nathan is the definition of a "Trusted Advisor". He has a powerful, natural curiosity that makes him a value-added partner to his clients and his team. Nathan was instrumental in my onboarding and is a great team player who led by example with his performance. He encouraged me to think deeper about the challenges my clients were facing, and he knows what it takes for true organizational and individual behavior changes to take hold. Nathan is a force-multiplier for any team and I know he will continue to do great things.

Janette Purdy

Nathan is a bright individual who brought new ideas and suggestions to improve our organization and our sales process. He was willing to work hard and spent many hours learning what was needed to achieve success within this position. He is someone who will excel with whatever opportunities he is given. A true sport enthusiast and an all around good guy.

In August 2018, I launched The Reno Slant - The weekly Nevada sports podcast, with by brother. I converted many of my listeners from my radio days, to the new platform. Our weekly downloads nearly doubled in the first three months and we brought on our first paid sponsor within six months. We've now had six paid sponsors and our show ranked as high as No. 1 on iTunes for college sports podcasts -- albeit briefly. The Nevada Press Association named us one of the top three podcasts in the state in 2019 and the top podcast in the state in 2021. We were the lone sports podcast honored. I taught myself how to build and market a website with e-commerce functionality, launched a blog, and have released multiple t-shirt designs. We had our biggest month ever in terms of downloads and website visitors in May '20, smack in the middle of the pandemic, a testament to our resolve and ability to adapt. Show less

When the timing is right, I do freelance sports writing. I've covered high school football for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and West Coast Conference basketball for the San Francisco Chronicle. The role requires me to gather information and submit stories by deadline. It also requires me to maintain relationships with sports editors and keep my writing skills sharp. It was my responsibility to provide OSHA/CDC compliance solutions to local healthcare providers. My role rewarded networking, accountability, integrity, effective communication, persistence/drive, appreciation, discipline, mental fortitude, a willingness to fail (what role doesn't?), and the ability to adapt. I cold called outpatient facilities in Vegas, attempted to conduct analysis of the property, then recommend solutions. Had to work through front-office staff, to get to the office manager and/or owner/doctor. Stats: Generated nearly $150,000 in revenue without marketing support, executed 1,649 in-person cold calls before signing first non-referral client. Yes, 1,649. Show less

-In April 2016, I started hosting a weekly hour-long live show on ESPN Radio in Reno, 'The Nathan Shoup Show.' It aired every Friday at noon. On the show, I weighed the dominating local and national sports stories with relevant guests. Guests I had on the show: -Jay Norvell (Nevada football coach) -Brian Polian (former Nevada football coach) -Eric Musselman (Nevada basketball coach) -TJ Bruce (Nevada baseball coach) -Gabby Williams (UConn women's hoops star) -Tim Dahlberg (AP sports columnist) -Brett Butler (Former Reno Aces manager) -Steve Young -Brian Urlacher -Wes Welker -Josh Beckett -Tim Wakefield -Jim McMahon -Joe Carter -Greg Chalmers (PGA Tour tournament winner) -Dave Kaval (Oakland Athletics/San Jose Earthquakes President) -John Doyle (San Jose Earthquakes General Manager) -Chris Hoff (Barracuda Championship Tournament Director) -Ian Russell (Reno 1868 FC head coach) -Andy Smith (Reno 1868 FC General Manager) -Peter O'Brien (One of top Arizona Diamondback prospects) -Ryan Radtke (Former voice of Nevada football/men's basketball and Reno Aces, now with Westwood One) -John Wildman (CEO of GolfBoard) -John Ramey (Voice of Nevada football/men's basketball) -Willie Robertson (Star of A&E reality show 'Duck Dynasty') -Ben Ross (KOLO 8 sports anchor/reporter) -Cheyne Reiter (Reno Aces communications manager) I also had to become familiar with production software and accomplished this largely though self teaching. I recorded and produced commercials for wide-ranging clientele weekly. -I wrote and hosted my own weekly 30-minute show, 'The Shoup Show,' discussing the major prep sports story lines of the week. The show aired August 2015-February 2016, or in sports terms, football season through basketball season. Airing on Reno's NBC Sports Radio affiliate, it was the first radio show of its kind in the greater Reno area. Show less

With the sale of the Sparks Tribune, I was promoted from sports reporter to sports editor. Along with the tasks listed under my prior title, I also handed out photo assignments, determined cover stories, planed the section as a whole, managed the sports side of the website, and worked with interns.Coverage included four local high schools, University of Nevada football/men's basketball/baseball, Reno Aces and Reno 1868 FC.Additionally, I wrote a weekly column -- Shoup Shots -- that was twice named Nevada's best (community division) by the Nevada Press Association.Due to understaffing, I managed social media accounts for the news desk and occasionally provided hard news content. As a sports reporter at the Sparks Tribune, I covered a variety of high school and University of Nevada athletics for print and online. I also designed pages (InDesign), shot feature photos and effectively ran a popular Twitter account that rivaled accounts from the larger media outlets in Reno. With the opportunity to promote my brand, I produced the only high school sports podcast in the state of Nevada, 'Shoup Shots.' The approximately 30-minute show was broken into numerous segments and released weekly. With an understaffed news department, I took on multiple news stories a week -- hard news and feature stories.I was the first reporter at the Sparks Tribune to include video with online stories. My YouTube channel generated more than 13,000 views in its first 18 months. I coordinated an overhaul of the Sparks Tribune website that has generated an increasing number of clicks every month since it launched in May 2014. Show less
