Design and build backend systems that support the games we build. My current focus is building the network APIs and functionality needed by the game natively in C++14. I still work for ZeniMax. I only transferred between companies. Design and build backend systems that support the games we build. Transitioned into a Software Engineering role developing Go web APIs1. Worked with another engineer developing a microservice based system from scratch that manages generic gameservers. V1 was finished and I then transitioned to a commerce team.2. Currently working with a commerce team to implement virtual currency and entitlement needs for game teams

    • Cloud Operations Engineer
      • Oct 2017 - Feb 2020

Developed custom middleware and managed large scale systems in cloud environments and datacenter hybrid environments. All distributed systems were built out using Terraform and Cloud Formation. I also helped program platform code in Python, Terraform, and C++ during crunch before game releases. 1. Crash Reporting Project: Solely built out a distributed system in AWS that managed crash reporting using sentry. - Built the first iteration using multiple containers managed by docker compose on each node. - I eventually migrated the system to Kubernetes to optimize hardware usage. 2. Managed an existing ElasticSearch cluster that ingested multiple thousands of messages per minute. The system consisted of a hot, warm, and cold storage layer and a fluentd based layer for ingest. 3. Build out a 120 node Splunk cluster that was eventually reduced in size by optimizing hardware 4. Build a custom application in python that automated firewalls via tagging cloud resources both for applying firewall rules and scraping dynamic IP addresses to add to the list of allowed resources. 5. Generally managed AWS policies, databases, accounts, and various cloud resources for game teams. 6. Helped build Terraform and Python code for the Fallout 76 gameserver platform during a 6 month crunch period.7. Helped write and integrate authentication services directly into a C++ gameserver (this was added on as a multi-threaded service) Show less
