    • Treaty for Open Skies, Media Processing Facility Flight Chief
      • Feb 2020 - Aug 2021

I serve as the senior enlisted leader for the U.S. Open Skies Arms Control Treaty Media Processing Center. Additionally, I served as the acting flight commander for 7 seven months. During my time, I led the withdrawal operations and equipment disposition for the treaty, on behalf of the The Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, when then President Donald Trump officially ended the United States' involvement in Open Skies November 2020. I led 12 military and civilian employees in realigning approximately $25 million in assets three months ahead of schedule. The Open Skies Treaty permits 35 state-signatories to the treaty to conduct short-notice, unarmed, reconnaissance flights over the others' entire territories to collect data on military forces and activities. Observation aircraft used to fly the missions must be equipped with sensors that enable the observing party to identify significant military equipment, such as artillery, fighter aircraft, and armored combat vehicles. Though satellites can provide the same, and even more detailed, information, not all of the treaty states-parties have such capabilities. The treaty is also aimed at building confidence and familiarity among states-parties through their participation in the overflights.I was ultimately responsible for ensuring U.S. and Russian Treaty Compliance during mission photo development and duplication. • Command Information NCO In-Charge
      • Aug 2014 - Dec 2015

As the NCO in charge of command information I planned and executed the 47th Flying Training Wing’s internal and external news service. I coordinated and edited all print, photo and social media products with the intent to communicate timely, accurate, and useful information about the 47th FTW’s activities to DOD, Air Force, and domestic and international audiences. As the leader of the eight person public affairs team there, I grew the Laughlin base website’s audience by more than 200 percent with 450,000 visitors a year from more than 91 countries. This was accomplished for a base with a population of only 4,500 people. To achieve this I employed communication tools such as social media, online content management systems and traditional print journalism to link Airmen to their leaders, educate and inform our audience, and recognize excellence. Additionally, I was the primary crisis communication emergency operations representative. My duties also included maintaining office training records, organizing training, and performing skills evaluations. I acted as the office’s inspection team leader and was tasked with reviewing office policies and procedures, emergency response operations, and records keeping. Show less

Camp Lemonnier is a United States Naval Expeditionary Base situated at Djibouti's Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport and is home to the Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa of the U.S. Africa Command.I was deployed to Camp Lemonnier to document the CJTF-HOA mission of building defense capability and capacity among its East African partners through military-to-military engagements (e.g. training, sharing of best practices, military exercises, and advising), key leader engagements, and civil-military operations; provides enabling support; and uses outreach and communication to enable security and stability, and to counter violent extremism in the region.I was the mission leader for three public relations missions in East Africa. I planned, organized and deployed teams to Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya and coordinated all strategic communication through the U.S. embassies in the region. During my tenure, I worked with the U.S. State Department to train African Union Mission in Somalia Senior military field commanders on strategic communication strategies, public affairs leadership roles and media operations in theater at a U.N. run training center in Nairobi, Kenya. My teams also worked with Uganda People's Defense Force communications experts and U.S. Army Civil Affairs Soldiers to develop the UPDF's ability to better coordinate and disseminate health and welfare information on prenatal care, HIV/AIDS prevention, cancer screenings and schooling to Uganda's rural population through traditional and nontraditional communication methodologies. In Ethiopia, my PA team worked with Ethiopian intergovernmental organizations to address gender inequality within civilian and military operations with the intent of empowering the nation’s female population to counter corruption, and expand civil liberties. • Public Affairs Specialist
      • Sep 2011 - Aug 2014

During my time at the 47th Flying Training Wing I learned what an Air Force Public Affairs Airman was expected to do. Thankfully my preconceived notion of spending my day sitting at a phone bank answering questions about UFO sightings was wrong … mostly. I did receive calls from farmers who thought they had seen UFOs. I just didn’t have to sit at a phone bank all day. All joking aside, my primary duties were to write, edit and photograph news, features and sports stories for base newspapers, social media outlets, base websites and media releases. I also reviewed speeches, news releases, tapes, motion picture films and photographs for security clearance and public release. Helped design and edited newspapers and newsletters, prepared layouts, read and corrected proofs, and coordinated with our local newspaper publisher for distribution and circulation. In addition, I operated our community relations department and engaged with the community through tours and town hall meetings, and responded to media queries and facilitated interviews. Lastly, I photographed official portraits, crime scenes and other alert photography. Show less

      • Sep 2009 - Jun 2010

I supervised and instructed Elementary level Math, English and History classes, and High School level Political Science, A.P. English, Math, A.P. History, debate and physical education classes through the Clover Park School District Emergency Substitute Teacher Licensing Program. The Emergency Substitute Teacher Licensing Program provides individuals with no formal training in classroom management and instruction with a substitute teaching license to support school districts with critically low numbers of teachers. Individuals are handpicked by school district administration for this honor and I was one of the selected. As a substitute, I routinely led classes of 35 to 40 students with little to no guidance from the regularly assigned instructor, and I had to adapt, learn and teach unfamiliar material to students through the use of lectures, demonstrations and skills checks, in both regular and special needs classrooms.
