I began my employment at GAP in January 2019 on an apprenticeship in business administration. Within a few months I saw myself attaining responsibility within the office as well as helping out in other departments of GAP, my main responsibility being the operator of the weighbridge. I am trusted to make sure that nothing goes in or out of our yard without having the correct paperwork and references to make sure everything is accounted for, this also means I have to speak with customers and liaise with them as to when they can book in for a tip. Alongside this I am responsible for the packaging and distribution of empty boxes for waste batteries to shops and small business across the UK. More recently I have been assisting the operations director in the day to day running of the site to gain more onsite knowledge whilst completing a Level 4 WAMITAB COTC in Managing the Physical and Chemical Treatment of Hazardous Waste, (Completed July 2022)Some of the key skills in which I attain for this role is good time and personnel management, attention to detail and a high level of customer service. Alongside my full-time role I also worked part-time at Gormans Fish and Chip shop as a Fryer. I was been in this role for 6 years developing many different skills on a day to day basis; knowledge of the business, organisation and team management to name a few. As well as carrying out my own duties I am responsible for making sure that the counter staff are adhering to their responsibility's. In January of 2019 I took a step back switching to part-time so that I could focus on my apprenticeship at Gap Group and then in March 2022 resigned from the company to focus my skills on obtaining my COTC within the waste industry. Outside of work, I attended the Royal Airforce Air Cadets on a weekly basis for 6 years. Over the course of my time on the squadron, I was lucky enough to attend various annual camps, including an overseas camp in Gibraltar, I have completed my Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s award and also shown myself to be a skilful marksman, helping the squadron to win the Inter-Squadron Skill at Arms Competition in 2017. 2018 also saw the culmination of my hard work, being selected to be the Camp CWO at Durham Northumberland Wing’s Annual Autumn Multi Activity Camp at DTE Warcop. Following my timing out In November 2019, I decided to return as a Civilian Instructor, with my aim to help further encourage and develop shooting and marksmanship training on the Squadron. In 2020 I had to end my time on the squadron to focus on my professional career although I hope to return in the future. Show less
