Nate is quite simply a top bloke. He is an amazing team player, and his knowledge of video games and football is almost encyclopaedic. His writing is entertaining, informative and witty, and his technical and market knowledge is well rounded and always up do date. I have no hesitation in recommending Nathan Irvine and I wish him continued success.

      • Feb 2012 - Aug 2012

I left Future to go into online community management at Take-Two's Rockstar Games. My daily duties included responding to fan queries, writing articles that ensure that the community are up-to-date with everything that's happening at the company and providing key information on areas of growth for the global brand. This also meant keeping a close eye on SEO, Google Analytics and various Twitter and Facebook statistics to come up with creative ways in which we could evolve. I enjoyed the role, but due to a number of complications surrounding a move to the US, I decided to leave. Show less

    • Associate Editor - GamesRadar.com
      • Jan 2010 - Feb 2012

With the recognition of my communication skills, industry contacts and podcast experience I was approached by the Group Publisher of the Games Division at Future Publishing with a role, tailored to me, on GamesRadar.com. Again this involved launching a brand-new podcast with a team that had no experience in this area. I used to write the scripts as well as host and edit the show together before it was posted live. Another primary objective was to bring in more traditional coverage (reviews/previews/news) to the site, which saw a significant improvement in viewing traffic since I started. All of this involved liaising with the US office to ensure the best content for GamesRadar on both sides of the Atlantic.I was also the driving force in improving the social networking traction. This involved coming up with extra content specifically tailored for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in order to offer the followers exclusive insight and content that they couldn’t find on GamesRadar itself. I even worked closely with the dedicated SEO team to successfully improve the rankings on search engines across the web. Show less

    • Deputy Editor - PSM3 Magazine
      • Sep 2007 - Jan 2010

As well as flat-planning the magazine, dealing directly with marketing and advertising departments and managing the team, I also found time to launch PSM3’s debut podcast. This required script writing, organising studio time and directing the sessions. It was very well-received by both listeners and the hierarchy at Future Publishing, so much so, that the template that I created has been rolled out to several other magazine teams in the company.During my time as deputy editor I was also responsible for managing press trips for the team. This meant liaising with companies and directing the work-flow of individuals attending these events. Show less

    • Reviews Editor - PSM3 Magazine
      • Aug 2005 - Jul 2006

I continued to build more key contacts and used my role to bring in much sought after exclusives for the magazine. As section editor it also enabled me to learn and hone skills in managing team members to produce work to deadlines and also commissioned freelance work. I also regularly interviewed key games industry figures for features. This included telephone, e-mail and face-to-face meetings, conducted all over the world.During this time I was set specific targets by my editor and the publisher of the magazine in order to build the skills necessary to become Deputy Editor. Within a year I was promoted again. Show less

    • Staff Writer - PSM2 Magazine
      • Feb 2004 - Aug 2005

My first job at Future Publishing was as a staff writer on PSM3 (née PSM2) in 2004. I swiftly built a strong list of contacts within the games industry including marketing, publishers and public relations people, which helped to strengthen the magazine’s relationships with key partners including Sony, EA and Activision. I was also responsible for sourcing and writing 40 pages of copy per month, which included reviews, features, previews and news. Due to these accomplishments – which were secondary to the primary writing role – it led to a promotion to Reviews Editor within two years. Show less
