Nathan is a hard working and efficient engineer. He is practical, supportive and has positive attitude. He worked with me in various projects at MAN Energy Solution Ltd. His skill set as designer and drafter are excellent.

Nathan is a very smart, keen and motivated engineer who picks things up very quickly. We could rely on him to get things done with minimal supervision. He is also able to communicate effectively with the team from senior managers to the shop floor. I fully expect that Nathan has a terrific career in front of him. Good luck in the future!

Includes: • Conversion of CAD models for FEA analysis, from component level meshing to model building full assemblies (ANSA Pre-Processor). This includes setting up constraints, contacts and connections to represent relevant mechanical interfaces such as welds, adhesives, bolts and other mechanical fixings. • Setup of a wide variety load cases (primarily IMPLICIT analysis) using header files. Examples of load cases run include many structural / durability load cases (to find stresses / strains and displacements), NVH cases (such as Dynamic Stiffness, Operating Deflection Shapes and Free Modal ) and mass optimisation cases (gauge & topology optimisation). This is done mainly using Optistruct solver software. • Post processing results of the forementioned analysis types using HyperView & Meta-Post software. Leading into the creation of customer facing reports / PowerPoints explaining results, methodologies and future actions. • Creating innovative solutions via iterative simulation to suggest potential design improvements to help structures meet required values and criteria. This requires a thorough understanding of not only the loads the structure is subjected to, but also the causes of the design choices and the manufacturing constraints in order to recommend feasible solutions. Included:• Design of a wide range of complex engineering parts and assemblies across a diverse and ever-expanding product range. Including large welded steel structures, hydraulic cylinders / components, sheet metal parts and an array of tight-tolerance machined components. Also including the specification of supporting bought in components such as fasteners, bearings and hydraulic seals.• Undertaking various calculations for structural integrity, engineering fits, kinematics and hydraulic capabilities to support design changes and new products. Methods such as hand calculation, Finite Element Analysis (Autodesk Nastran) and creation of Excel calculation sheets used. This requires thorough understanding of solid mechanics and various material properties.• Management of BOM’s, engineering drawings and CAD data through internal company drives, custom MRP system and Autodesk Vault PDM software.• Design of a range of bespoke excavation projects through concept scheming in AutoCAD to full modelling and manufacturing drawings in Autodesk Inventor. Draughting assemblies, weldments and components whilst applying GD&T principles and working within internal company standards (ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 company). Show less

Included: • Creation and modification of engineering designs, assemblies and manufacturing drawings for various systems using Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD alongside with Autodesk Vault PDM. This consisted of designs that are cast, fabricated, welded and/or machined, constructed from steel, aluminium and copper alloys. • Working on engineering and product documentation, such as technical specifications, tolerance stack ups, hand calculations, design/development reports, internal standards, build books and manuals. • Generation of innovative Engineering solutions from design feasibility studies, through to concepts ready for manufacture. This involved communicating design and engineering choices in meetings with both Design Engineers and members of other departments. • Liaising with manufacturing and quality control to discuss and appreciate any potential issues and barriers to the manufacture of components/assembly.
